ABOUT THE COMPANY

Identity Performing Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts organization committed to connecting with the greater community by teaching dance as a free service to the underserved, along with creating and performing dance works that affirm each person's identity.

Enabling all to enjoy dance is core to Identity, from our first term of year round free dance classes in 2016, through developing a portfolio of dance projects, to expanding further with our dance company. With this, our most recent development since 2021, Identity showcases original choreography, performed by our troupe of professional dancers as a full-season company. Through our live performances of these works, we express the interconnectedness within our company and emphasize the importance of our individualities that establishes unity.

TESTIMONIALS

  • Thank you Ginny for organizing all this ..you really showed the diversity of a community through art .. diversity of form, meaning, participants ... At a time when our country seems so divided and isolated you provided an afternoon of inclusion and celebration ... your dances were stunning too. I look forward to a future event!

  • Ginny Ching-Yin is a thoughtful teacher who inspires. It was a joy each and every class to move with her, learn new steps and together, create a piece that we actually performed. None of us were sure we could learn enough to perform when we started; all of us were so glad we did, and we owe the experience to this gifted teacher and choreographer.

  • In the short 2 years I've been dancing with Ginny Ching-Yin, I have witnessed in every rehearsal and performance, the passion she has for what she does. Her joy for the art is indeed contagious! Her professionalism and strong desire to maintain the integrity and quality of movement continues to draw me to her pieces that creatively explore and capture meaning in the world around us.
